The deserts and semi-arid regions of South Africa are home to some of the world's most unique and diverse succulent plant species. But these botanical treasures are vanishing at an alarming rate through poaching.

The silent theft of these ancient, slow-growing plants is pushing entire species to the brink of extinction, transforming ecological systems that have evolved over millions of years.

SA Hunters and Game Conservation Association (SA Hunters) is traditionally known for its focus on sustainable hunting and wildlife conservation.

The organization has been involved in anti-poaching initiatives for various wildlife species in South Africa. It has expanded its conservation efforts to include threatened plant species, including endangered succulent plants.

The battle to save South Africa's succulent treasures requires a multifaceted approach combining stricter enforcement, international cooperation, and community engagement. These ancient plants, some of which have grown for centuries, can disappear forever in just moments when poached from their natural habitats.

The Save Our Succulents program aims to reduce incidents and impacts of poaching of these endangered species, and SA Hunters works closely with the Richtersveld National Park.
