Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Wildlife Economy (5-minute Video)

The seventeen United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were adopted in 2015 to offer a roadmap for addressing pressing environmental challenges by 2030.
But what does that have to do with anti-poaching efforts in Africa?
The Wildlife Economy is a “thing”, as unpalatable as it may be to animal rights activists, and it must be considered an integral part of the SDG drive.
Poor governance, institutional capacity limitations, competing development priorities, wildlife trade and trophy hunting bans hinder policy implementation.
Africa faces an annual conservation funding gap of up to $2.5 billion; roadblocks to practical conservation efforts must be removed if any progress is to be made.
This video is based on the “State of the Wildlife Economy in Africa” report by the School of Wildlife Conservation. It explains how the Wildlife Economy contributes towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
